In a world inundated with electronic stimulations, nothing can replace the intimacy of acoustic music. At its best, the sound makes you feel most human. Eric Brace and Peter Cooper are Grammy-nominated musicians, former music journalists and frequent guest DJs on Nashville’s legendary AM country music station, WSM. Together, they carry on the front-porch traditions of pre-electrified American music. Wry and literate, the duo’s 2013 release, “The Comeback Album,” is built on John Prine interpretations of the Carter family legacy. Tunes such as the cautionary rock-tinged tale of “Ponzi Scheme” and frolicking humor of “Mad” are soothing and immediate, with Brace and Cooper’s unvarnished harmonies bridging the gap between voice and instrument to an intuitive understanding.
